From the Donna Nobile Bed and Breakfast San Gimignano you can easily reach Florence, the city of art and cradle of the Renaissance, known all over the world for its artistic, historical and architectural masterpieces and its ancient tradition of food and wine.

Florence is a treasure chest of inestimable treasures all located within a few kilometres.  In the heart of the historic centre is Piazza del Duomo, which is home to the Baptistery of San Giovanni and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, where you can see the famous bell tower of Giotto and the dome of Brunelleschi. Just a short walk away is the Laurentian Medicean Library, an exceptional architectural representation of Michelangelo's genius. Not far away you can visit the most famous art venues in the city such as the Uffizi Gallery, which includes the most significant collection of Botticelli and Raffaello, the Bargello National Museum and the Accademia Gallery. Other wonders, like the Trinità del Masaccio and the Crucifix of Giotto, are housed in one of the most important Gothic style churches in Tuscany, Santa Maria Novella, located a short distance from the railway station.

With regard to contemporary art, the temporary exhibitions of Palazzo Strozzi, one of the most fascinating Italian Renaissance buildings, are absolutely imperative.

Walking along the river Arno, which crosses the city, you can enjoy the romantic panorama of Ponte Vecchio, renowned for its historic crafts and jewellery shops.
